Will This Thing Fit In Our Cornucopia?

20 Nov

I guess the roots already run pretty deep...

Just in time for Thanksgiving we will officially be home owner’s. That’s a big deal, right? It is, I know, and I’m ecstatic. But there is something even more exciting  going on here. Our new house is actually the home that Jay’s grandparent’s built in the early 60’s. His Dad grew up here, his Mom came here to meet her future in-laws for the first time so many years ago. There were family dinners, sleepovers, and countless other memories from his childhood that populated within these walls.

Its been easy to take that for granted during this stressful process of purchasing a house. However, as things are settling down I am gaining some perspective and realizing that this isn’t just a house and we didn’t even have to be moved in for Jay to think of it as our home.

I am thankful that my husband has a soft spot for tradition. Not only do we share our anniversary with his parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and his aunt and uncle but now we get to be a part of another piece of that history as well.
